As an HVSC Outreach Officer, you will play a pivotal role in representing our organization and building relationships with local groups, organisations, and services across Herefordshire and the wider West Midlands region.

Job Overview:

As an HVSC Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for engaging with communities, identifying areas of need, and developing solutions to support the Armed Forces community. You will work closely with the HVSC Manager to report on progress and ensure alignment with our charity grant and business plan requirements. This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a strong commitment to advocating for the needs of veterans and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the HVSC Manager to build positive relationships with stakeholders interested in the success of HVSC.
  • Report on progress towards key indicators, financial and non-financial outputs, and milestones in relation to the HVSC charity grant and business plan requirements.
  • Utilise data from the ONS Census to identify areas with high veteran populations and work with local communities and organizations to address their needs.
  • Establish and maintain links with other similar partnerships to exchange ideas and information to enhance the offer of HVSC.
  • Actively represent HVSC and advocate for the work of the centre staff and volunteers.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information relating to clients with discretion and professionalism.
  • Act as a liaison point between clients and relevant agencies to ensure the best support and advice are provided.
  • Provide statistical information to the HVSC Manager for regular reports for funders, partners of the HVSC management group, and Trustees on the progress of HVSC.
  • Identify and implement best practice initiatives that support continuous improvement at HVSC.
  • Engage with the Armed Forces community in Herefordshire and provide support and/or signpost them to relevant agencies and services.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of HVSC, including personal security and lone working procedures.
  • Develop and facilitate access to training/activities that meet the needs of veterans, their families, and carers at appropriate settings in the County.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the military environment.
  • Experience in community outreach and engagement.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the internet.

Our Offer:

  • Scale 7, £27,777, pro rata
