Job Overview:
This is a 3-year fixed term post funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
As an HVSC Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative support and monitoring assistance to the HVSC Manager and the wider team. You will work closely with the Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the centre and the effective management of volunteers. This role requires attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the HVSC Manager in the day-to-day management of the centre, including overseeing operations and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of centre activity, including case studies, to facilitate monitoring and evaluation of impact for funders and beneficiaries.
- Support the management of the volunteer cohort, including recruitment, training, and ongoing support.
- Ensure the building is maintained as a clean, safe, and secure environment for the Armed Forces community.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism, adhering to data protection regulations.
- Collaborate with the HVSC Manager in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to engage the Armed Forces community.
- Assist with the maintenance of HVSC social media accounts and website.
- Support the delivery of training and activities for veterans, their families, and carers, both at the centre and within community settings.
- Attend training sessions and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the military environment.
- Experience in risk assessment and risk management, particularly regarding safe working practices.
- Previous experience dealing successfully with difficult and challenging situations.
- Understanding of working with and/or coordinating volunteers.
- Awareness of issues of diversity and ability to challenge discriminatory attitudes and practices.
- Competence in establishing and maintaining administrative and financial information systems.
- Experience or knowledge of partnership development and maintaining good relationships.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the internet.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong advisory, negotiating, and persuasive skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a wide range of audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and motivate others.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to organize workload and meet tight deadlines.
Our Offer:
- Scale 6 – £25,979 pay award pending.
- Full time 37 hours. Job Share would be considered if a suitable share is secured.
